The western Westland towns lie 1–2 km from the North Sea. Higher humidity in bathrooms and salt influence on exteriors means: we consistently recommend 3 layers of PU topcoat instead of the standard 2. For beach villas and holiday homes we also choose Lavasteen seamless floor in the living room — epoxy is inherently moisture-resistant.

Poeldijk, Kwintsheul & De Lier — smaller village centres

In the smaller centres, primarily detached houses and semi-detached properties with various floor constructions. We always check beforehand: old concrete floors with cracks, sand-cement or modern anhydrite. For properties directly beside greenhouses we watch for temperature fluctuations that can affect the subfloor — usually not a problem, but something to factor into the design.

New-build around Maasdijk & Hoogeland — anhydrite and underfloor heating

On the north side and in new-build projects, almost always anhydrite screed — an ideal substrate. Important: anhydrite must be completely dry (moisture content ≤0.5%) before we apply. With new-builds we often visit at an early stage to measure and coordinate planning with the contractor.

Farmhouses, old growers' cottages & agricultural renovations

Characteristic of Westland: agricultural dwellings, farmhouse renovations and homes directly beside horticultural businesses. Here we often find old tiled floors, sometimes with moisture from the ground. We measure beforehand and, if in doubt, install a vapour barrier beneath the seamless floor. Yes, provided we thoroughly inspect the subfloor beforehand. Greenhouses produce heat and moisture fluctuations that can affect the adjoining dwelling. We measure moisture content, check for cracks in the screed, and use an elastic primer where there is increased risk of movement.

Do you also work in agricultural business premises and showroom kitchens?

Yes, we regularly create sleek finishes in growers' showroom kitchens and in business premises with a representative character. Lavasteen Seamless Floor is excellent for commercial applications due to its wear resistance and chemical resistance.
