Description
What is Lavasteen Seamless Floor?
Lavasteen Seamless Floor explained
Lavasteen Seamless Floor is a thin, epoxy-based concrete-look coating for floors and walls, just 1/2 mm thick. Also known as Lavasteen. Fine lava stone combined with epoxy resin provides extreme hardness. This ready-to-use paste can be applied both horizontally and vertically. You apply it directly onto your existing floor, wall or even furniture. No demolition, no hassle. Simply apply over the top and you're done. For tiles, you can apply the coarse primer and fill the joints, then cover the entire tile with our trowelable paste. This is only a thin layer. Other tile coating systems require a thick layer to apply over tiles
It contains epoxy resin, polyamines, additives and natural minerals. The result? A rock-hard, seamless surface with a natural appearance that looks professional without having to turn your home upside down.
It can be that simple. Nowadays new-build homes are delivered with anhydrite floors. These crack-resistant floors are a perfect substrate for our Lavasteen seamless floors and microcement floors. Cement screed floors are less popular due to the associated CO₂ emissions. Cement floors are gradually disappearing from our system.
What is an anhydrite screed – and why is it an excellent subfloor for Lavasteen Seamless Floor and our Microcement
An anhydrite floor is a modern screed floor based on calcium sulphate (gypsum) rather than cement.
- Up to 90% lower CO₂ emissions during production than traditional cement floors
- Locally produced and fully recyclable
- Less water required during application
- Faster curing – so shorter construction time and lower energy consumption
Better for the planet and your project. Win-win. So no more waiting. Anhydrite is the perfect subfloor for our products. Crack-free! 1 cm thickness requires 1 week drying. Up to 4 cm. For more than 4 cm thickness: allow 2 weeks per additional centimetre. If you do have a cement screed floor, allow it to crystallise. Cement needs a period of at least 28 days before it stops expanding or shrinking. Moreover, at least one week's drying time per cm thickness must be observed, with a minimum of 28 days.
