Privacy Policy
your data, clearly explained.
Smartdeco handles your data carefully in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Below you can read which data we collect, why, and what your rights are.
Privacy Policy / GDPR
Smartdeco's handling of your data complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
In brief:
We collect data to tailor your shopping experience at Smartdeco to your preferences. Whenever we do this, we are always transparent about it.
We are open and honest about the data we collect from you and why we do so. If you would like to know exactly which data we hold about you, you can contact info@smartdeco.nl.
The processing of your personal data is limited solely to the data minimally necessary for the purposes for which they are used.
Our internal and external processes are designed to ensure we do everything possible to protect your data.
We only share data with third parties when necessary. For example, with DHL to deliver your webshop parcel or with the printer for the correct addressing of your post.
We respect that your data belongs to you. You can therefore inform us at any time that you no longer consent to us processing your data. Please contact info@smartdeco.nl for this purpose.
Read more about our privacy principles and what you should know about the way we process data.
Smartdeco does not sell your data
Smartdeco will not sell your personal data to third parties and will only make it available to third parties involved in fulfilling your order, or to group companies. Our employees and third parties engaged by us are obliged to respect the confidentiality of your data.
Visiting our website:
Smartdeco uses cookies and other technologies. Cookies are small information files that are stored on the device used to visit the website during a visit, such as a computer, tablet, smartphone or smartwatch. Where we refer to "cookies" below, we also mean other similar technologies.
Cookies make it possible to recognise your web browser. This is useful, as it means data does not have to be entered repeatedly, products do not have to be placed in the shopping basket again, or settings adjusted. In this way, we can also make our website work better and gain insight into visitor behaviour on the website.
Cookies do not compromise the security of your computer. We distinguish between different types of cookies:
Functional cookies:
These are necessary for the proper functioning of the website. They ensure, for example, that the desired information is displayed quickly and correctly each time the website is visited. No consent needs to be requested for the placement of functional cookies.
Analytical cookies:
We use these to analyse how our website is used, for example how often the website is visited, on which page you enter our website, which pages are clicked on most. This data is processed anonymously; therefore no consent needs to be requested for this.
Tracking cookies:
These are cookies that can track your browsing behaviour on our website. In this way, we and advertisers can display personalised online advertisements and tailored content based on browsing behaviour. We request consent before placing these cookies if we intend to use them at that time.
The cookies are stored on the device for a maximum of twelve months after the last visit. You can always disable or delete cookies from your device yourself. How to do this varies depending on the type of internet browser and device. If you choose to delete cookies, the website may no longer function optimally and some services may become unavailable.
Online ordering:
When you make a purchase online, the transaction details are recorded in order to process the payment. We are legally required for tax purposes to retain the anonymous transaction data of every purchase for seven years.
If you pay by credit card, we may perform a fraud check. We then verify whether the credit card has (potentially) been used or could be used for fraudulent activities. We do this based on, among other things, the country of issue of the credit card, postcode and country. If we determine that the credit card has been or could be used for fraudulent activities, we will notify you and the online order cannot be completed with that credit card. This data is retained for 90 days.
If you pay with Klarna, pay later, we pass your details on to Klarna. This concerns the following data: name, address, place of residence, email address, telephone number, date of birth and order amount. Klarna then handles the payment on our behalf.
Naturally, we require the address details and email address to deliver the order and to keep you informed of this delivery.
We share this data with the transport service in order to deliver the order to you. These external service providers may only use the data to perform the relevant services. They may not use or pass on your data independently.
We also retain the data about your purchase in order to answer any questions or complaints about the product. We retain this data for three years. Approximately a few days after your purchase, you will receive a message from us asking whether the purchase meets your expectations, whether we can do anything else for you and whether you would perhaps like to leave a review or submit a beautiful photograph that could potentially be used on the website or social media.
If you choose to create an account, we also retain your data for relationship management.
Discount codes:
We have various promotions and discounts. One discount code can be applied per order. Discount codes do not work in combination with other sales and promotions.
Newsletter registration:
If you would like to stay informed about the latest collections, events, offers or other news, you can subscribe to the newsletter. We then register your name and email address to fulfil the request. Every newsletter includes the option to unsubscribe.
Contact with our customer service:
Every day our customer service is ready to help, answer questions and resolve problems. If you have a question or complaint, we require certain data. This includes your name, email address, telephone number and other information necessary to process the question or complaint. We also use this information to keep you informed.
Social media:
Smartdeco uses social media to keep you informed of the latest trends, collections, tips & tricks and to give you a behind-the-scenes look. You can follow us on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn and Pinterest.
There are no conditions from Smartdeco attached to the use of social media. You agree to the terms and conditions of the social media platform.
Contact with Smartdeco via social media:
If you ask us a question via social media, we will retain that message and the account name so that we can respond.
If photos are shared with us, you give permission to use them for our social media and website or for marketing purposes. In some cases, we will contact you if you post a photo mentioning (products from) Smartdeco by tagging or using a hashtag.
Smartdeco advertisements on social media:
Smartdeco uses the advertising capabilities of social media platforms. We display advertisements based on the data that the social media platform collects with your consent, for example that you follow us, are interested in epoxy, luxury wall finishes and construction or interiors. Or that you live in a particular region. Smartdeco has no influence over which data social media platforms collect. This is stated in the platform's terms and conditions and can often also be managed in your profile settings.
How do we secure your data?
Your data is stored and transmitted securely. Those who have nothing to do with your data simply cannot access it. Smartdeco strives to store and transmit your data using the most recent security technologies and encryption methods.
Under 16 years of age?
We do not process data from young people under the age of 16.
Access to data?
You can always gain access to the data that Smartdeco holds about you. You can ask us to do so in writing. You can also consult your personal account to see which personal data about you is known. Based on the results, you can also request to amend the data or you can amend it yourself in your account if it is factually incorrect, incomplete or irrelevant. You may also submit a request for deletion.
